The Technology Department of the Garfield Re-2 School District supports over 5,000 staff and students of the Rifle, Silt, and New Castle communities.
The Garfield Re-2 School District WAN consists of 10 LAN locations connected back to the district office using two multilink T-1 circuits. Our district technology is centered on the Apple OS X platform with teachers using MacBook laptops and the school labs, administrative offices, and classroom computers consisting of iMacs and eMacs. We use Xserve servers in all schools to authenticate users, and to host files and account home directories.
We use Cisco networking equipment to connect our buildings to the network, internet and wireless access. In addition, we also use Cisco as our VOIP provider.
The combination of this technology makes a very stable and reliable network.
